Why Strawberry Shortcake?
For the web project 1 I chose to make a website describing the Characters from the Strawberry Shortcake franchise. I’ll go into detail on the main characters, pets, and villains of the strawberry shortcake series and media. There are different iterations, pets, names, and designs for the various Strawberry shortcake characters, but I'm going to focus on materials from the 80s to keep things simple. I’d also like to expand my research on the toys from the 80s and more media from the 90s to the early 2000s. This topic was fueled by my love for vintage toys and when I got my grubby hands on a strawberry shortcake doll I instantly fell in love with the idea of Strawberry Shortcake.
The Basic Idea Of Strawberry Shortcake
Strawberry Shortcake started out as a greeting card. She wore a bonnet with a strawberry on it and she was called “Strawberry Girl”. Her popularity grew and led to the increase of new characters and the creations of the first Strawberry Shortcake dolls. Everything you can think could be merchandised were merchandised with Strawberry Shortcake. The franchise went through some major and minor revisions, some succeeding and some not doing as well. Personally, I think the best design was from the 80s.
